Led by Mr. Tran Anh Minh—a member of the Vietnam Football Federation Executive Committee—the Vietnam Futsal team traveled to Thailand to compete in the 2026 Continental Futsal Championship from August 1 to August 6, 2026. Experts have likened this international friendly tournament to a “mini-World Cup” due to the high caliber of participating teams, many of which feature elite squads that have previously qualified for the Futsal World Cup.

Five teams competed in the tournament: Vietnam, Russia, Thailand, Afghanistan, and New Zealand.

Seven players from the Thai Son Bac Club participated in this campaign. Alongside familiar faces, Nhan Nam and Trong Kien were new additions receiving their first national team call-ups. With their professional technique and seamless coordination, these players are increasingly establishing themselves as key figures within the national squad.

The Vietnam Futsal team achieved an impressive runner-up finish, remaining undefeated and trailing the champions, Russia, only on goal difference. Although they did not clinch the title, the team’s performance offers positive signs for their journey toward qualifying for the 2028 Futsal World Cup finals.
